After spending a week at Keller Williams Family Reunion this past week there were many AHA’s that were being shared. One of them kept being repeated and stood out to me was that you are only 5 years from being whomever you want to be. What great news!
Let me share with you what that can look like as we go back in time together and I share my story. Let’s go back 6 years. I know I said 5 years, let’s look at the 5 year gap from 2011-2016 to see what can be done.
I share with you my story as an example and then at the end I will share with you the simple steps you can follow to create your own transformation.

In 2011 I am not married and in 2016 I have a strong marriage with my amazing wife Nita that is built on trust and honesty. By using strategies of Darren Hardy, I have created a gratitude journal for my wife and shared it with her. It now always has me looking for the things that I am grateful for about her and it has her doing the same. This keeps us growing and strengthening our marriage.
In 2011 I am up to my eyeballs in debt due to irresponsible management of my money and credit and in 2016 I am proud to say I am debt free, except for my home. How does this happen? Following the path put before us by Dave Ramsey for Financial Peace in our lives.
In 2011 I think that I am in shape and in 2016 I am in the best shape of my life. By finding a gym that works for me and a trainer that pushes me and a nutritionist that guides me healthy becomes a way of life.
In 2011 I call Bellingham Washington home and by 2016 I call Atlanta Georgia home. With growth comes opportunity and with opportunity comes change.

Now that we are back in the present it is time for you to set your vision for who you will be in 2022. It might sound far away, although it is only 5 years away and will be here before you know it!
How to do it? First thing is the hardest thing as you want to do is decide who you want to be when you get there. If you don’t have a vision you will look up and be the same you 5 years from now, or you might have gone backwards. Sit down and dream big! Do you want your health to look a certain way? How about where you are living? What does business look like for you? Who are you in relationships with?
Second step is what is called Goal Setting to the Now from The ONE Thing and take your written vision of 5 years from now backwards. If you know who you want to be in 5 years, who do you need to be in 3 years to be on track? Who you then need to be in 1 year to be on track? Who will you need to be in 6 months then? How about 1 month? How about at the end of this week? How about as soon as you finish reading this?
Walk the goal backwards and it becomes easier to see the finish line.
